Hi,
I am trying to use a Windows XP box as a router only. I have a USB
internet connection (DirecWay), so I have to connect the Internet to a
PC. I then would like to route right through to a Netgear Firewall.
I have added a second network card to create a new subnet for the
connection to the Netgear firewall.
Here is my configuration:
WinXP (Connected directly to Internet)
External IP: 66.82.105.117
Internal IP: 192.168.10.250
Netgear Firewall
External IP: 192.168.10.1
Internal IP: 192.168.0.1 (Internal LAN subnet)
I can ping all of the way out the external address of the XP Box, but
cannot get past there? I can also get to the Internet from the XP
box. I added the following route on the XP Box and it didn't make any
difference.
Route Add 192.168.0.0 Mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.10.1
I have also made the registry entry to allow XP to forward IP packets
and confirmed the line "IP Routing Enabled. .......: Yes" by using
ipconfig.
Thanks in advance,
Eddie
