I use Outlook 2002 in Windows XP Professional. I have selected "Use MS Word to edit email messages" by selecting Tools/Options/Mailformat. However, every time I either try to set up a new email message, or reply to a email message, I get the following MS Outlook error message: "This form requires Word as your email editor, but Wrod is either busy or cannot be found. The form will be opened in the Outlook editor instead." I use both MS Word and Outlook often and have no problems, other than this. By the way, I get this message even if Word is not open. Please Help?!

Do you use a default signature or any other form of automated text for a new
e-mail? Try disabling those (in case for a signature set the default to
<none>) and try again. If this works delete and recreate that signature.

How To Manage General Information For Multiple Contacts

Besides not being happy? :-)

Try starting Outlook in safe mode by Start-> Run-> "browse to Outlook.exe"
/safe

If this works that it could be one of you add-ons causing the problem (like
a virusscanner or spamfilter).

If this doesn't work you can try to locate normal.dot and rename it to
normal.old. This will reset your Word settings. If this doesn't work either
you can rename normal.old back to normal.dot to get your settings back.

You can also try to post this in a Word newsgroup. Mention there what steps
you've already taken.

Please post back your findings here even when you skip to another newsgroup
to keep the message in tact.

What do I do if after following the registry changes it STILL doesn't
work?

I have posted my question in the Word Newsgroup all day and there has been no response. I have found however that Outlook Newsgroup users are more on top of things than Word Newsgroup users. I'll keep you informed if there is any magical cure to my problem.

Thanks for all your help.

You're welcome! :-)

Have you tried the easy (but a bit drastic) thing already; simply create a
new Outlook profile? You can do this in Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show
Profiles-> button Add...
