Hello,
Whatever you do DO NOT MESS WITH THE ACCELERATION in XP. It has
absolutely nothing to do with your problem.
DirectX capable devices have to be set up to receive the video, which
translates to you have to set-up the desktop so that the secondary device
can handle the DirectX image. DirectX images are a special case and are
handled differently
Whether you are using a second desktop (some call it a Dual desktop) you
MUST have drivers that can deliver the right signal to the projector.
An XP compatible interface should come with the projector (If you are
running it from a second Graphics Card) If you are running both devices from
the one card you need the driver capable of delivering from signal, you
would get that from the manufacturer of the card...its some time since I did
this but for the NVidia based cards from Gainward the utility is called
Desktop Manager or Smart Manager.
In the set-up dialog you get the opportunity to identify which must be
the primary display (You get a big Number 1 or 2 appear in the display) then
once you know which is which you can edit the settings within those
permitted by that display device. It will also allow you to specify more
than one desktop on your main computer screen....it makes for easy switching
between programs without having to minimise one and expand the other...its
tricky at first but once you have played with it for a while you will be
able to use it as easily as your old set-up
