using windows movie maker

I am trying to edit my home video which was recorded on a DVD-R disc. How do
I import the disc so that I may use windows movie maker to edit and create a
great family video? Also, I do not have a connector for my digital recorder -
so I am trying to import the dvd-r disc via the disk drive
