I have used the Windows fax console for receiving faxes for a while. I had
Photoshop installed when I started using the fax system in Windows. I could
VIEW and it would open Photoshop automatically.

I deleted Photoshop and now have Photoshop Essentials 8. I now cannot VIEW
anything because I don't have software to view .tif . I know that
Essentials opens it, but I can't find anywhere in the fax console to tell it
to go to Essentials.

Please help.

Does PE8 get used when, in Windows Explorer, you double-click on a .tif
file? What file handler got used probably depends on the filetype
association.

I have opened a .tif and a .gif file and Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer opens. But when I click on the .tif in Fax Console, it says that
there is nothing connected with it to open it.

WPF only opens flat TIF files. TIF4 is a later version that allows
multiple pages and a format often used by faxing programs. Is the .tif
file that you opened by double-clicking on it and showing up in WPF the
..tif file for the fax or some .tif file you happened to find or download
to your host?

There are multiple versions of TIF. I don't know if WPF handles them
all (not likely). What happens when you install IrfanView and associate
it with .tif files?
