I've set up a vpn connection to my windows 2000 server from my xp pro computer. Both the computers are in my home and i'm just doing this for a training experience. They are connected to a cable modem and receive separate IP addressed? I get connected just fine, but I have no clue how to access the resources on the server. What interface do I use?

look at articles at http://www.microsoft.com/vpn for more information on
establishing VPN setups.

To connect to resources on the server "net use \\<ipaddress of server for
PPP interface>\C$" with proper username and password should work. You can
get that address by doing ipconfig on the server after making a connection.

You can also see the server's "virtual" IP address from the client. After
connection, click on the VPN connection icon on the task bar and select the
Details tab.

Note that when you are running a setup like this, there are two possible
paths between the client and server. Which path is actually used may depend
on which IP address the name resolves to.
