Well after looking through all kinds of posts on here and
looking at a lot of microsofts websites concerning
vpn's ...etc, I finaly figured out how to get a vpn
connection going. Now I can't figure out how to do
anything on the server :) I dial up the vpn server
from the client, it connects after checking password
etc, and I see on the network connections page of the
server on the "Incoming Connections" adapter that I am
connected, but now someone tell me how in the world I do
anything on the server :) please? It doesn't seem like
the drives are mapped the same way as on a lan. Give me
a clue (well actually more than a clue :) ) here huh.

Thanks in advance
Lonnie

After connecting to the server, you can map drives by
net use * \\<ipaddress-of-server>\share

For ipaddress of server, use the ipaddress of the PPP adaptor (dial in)
interface. (You can get this by ipconfig on the server).
Also, you can remote desktop to the server if Remote desktop is enabled on
the server.

Thanks

Thank you very much for your response. I'm assuming that
this has to be used via dos window, if not please let me
know. At any rate, it is not working via the dos
window. I have done everything exactly as you described
and I keep getting system error 53 or maybe 58 cannot
remember for sure. I know the connection is genuine I
can see it with my own eyes :) but nothing seems to
be working via the connection. I also cannot use remote
desktop via this connection. During the connection there
are no routers, and no personal firewalls that i have to
worry about configuring (i've taken them out of the
picture until I get it working). Do I also need to
disable windows xp pro firewall as well? If so, how in
the world would i be protected?

Thanks again

Forget that last post :) I figured out why it wasn't
functioning properly. It helps if you have admistrative
priviledges :) I was trying to use another name that
wasn't recognised as having the proper access.

Thanks again for your help.
