Do you have the map saved there? Go to Programs > Accessories > Paint
File > Open > Desktop ... and take it from there.

Thanks for the response. I am really a tech dinosaur. I'm not sure what you mean by "do you have the map saved there"? Saved where? You will need to lead me by the hand - sorry. This is the scenario. I google a map of a lake and that google map is in a box/frame on my screen. I want to "paint"/show a racing course of buoys on that pic of the lake. Then I want to be able to email that pic of the lake with the race course on it to friends and also be able to post the lake, w/ the race course, on racing forums on the web. I do understand how to get into the "paint" location of my pc (start>acc>paint). Just cant figure out how to get the 'lake' pulled up so I can 'paint' the buoys on it. I know this is a lot to ask. If or when you have the time your help would be greatly appreciated. Thx in advance.

Try this:

Get the image you want in the browser. Make sure you can see it all in
the window.

-Press Alt-key & Print Screen (copies active window to the clipboard)
-Start Paint
-Choose Edit -> Paste
-Use the rectangular select tool in Paint to select the area of the
pasted image you want to save
-Choose Image -> Crop
-Draw as desired.
-Save file when done

When you say "google a map of a lake" are you talking about

1) *Google Maps* service (e.g.
http://maps.google.com.au/maps?utm_...m_source=en_AU-ha-apac-au-sk-gm&utm_term=maps)

Or

2) are you searching "images" in Google looking for the map of the lake?

You need to save the image to your PC and open it in Paint, or you can
try right click / copy and then Paste it into a new file in the Paint
program.

You may need to do a screen capture of the Google map using Vista's
"snipping tool", then save that picture as a file. You can then open
that file in Paint and draw on it. Paint is pretty rudimentary as a
drawing program. You can do a Google search for other drawing programs
if Paint is unsatisfactory.
