Hello, MY problme is as follows;
I know that u can right click a shortcut and choose run as to run something
as an admin account. MY problme is that there si no way to save that
information so that certain programs always startup with that account?

The reason for this is that at work we have a laptop the bounces between 2
locations with engine diagnostic programs. In the past everyone just used the
same sign on to access everything but our other shop started installing there
own programs despite being told not to; games and other programs. Well long
story short they messed up windows bad enough to warrant a format and now
everything is all fresh again. Now both locations have seperate login
accounts and the 2nd has a user account, can't install anyhting etc BUT admin
needs to be able to run the diagnostic programs for some reason, if not they
error out. I know that u can force the shortcut to ask for a password
everytime but if we told them the password that would defeat the purpose of
having seperate accounts and them not being bale to do anything!!

Please help!!

Not natively - no. It is prohibited from doing thast for valid security
reasons.

They needed admin right?

Then give full rights to the files/folders that the application uses - even
the registry entries and perhaps the "All Users" profile - but do not let
them run as administrator.

Yes. See my advice above. Very few programs out there are so complicated
and convoluted that just changing file/folder permissions as well as
registry permissions for the places that applications need access to doesn't
fix things.
Please help!!

See above.
Applications like REGMON and FILEMON may help you figure out what the
files/folders it needs are.

Thank you very much! This was most helpful and better than what I wanted in
the first place!!!! I have no idea why changing permissions did't come to me
before you mentioned it!
