Using System Restore

Hi,
I am having a problem with the System Restore on my XP
Home Ed. computer. The computer is not yet 6 mos. old.
When I use System Restore to set the computer at a
previous date I get a message that says the computer can
not be restored to that point. This message appears after
the computer has gone through the restore process. I have
tried a couple of other restore dates but get the same
message. I follow all screen instructions and close any
open windows. I even turn off the DSL connection and the
Anti-virus. What could I be doing wrong?

Also: The reason for the System Restore is that someone
installed Hot Bar on the computer. I uninstalled it right
away. I am getting pop-up windows when browsing (I wasn't
before the Hot Bar). I thought rolling back the computer
would solve that problem.

Run Spybot, it removed Hotbar of my friend's computer - when downloaded, make
sure after installation you update Spybot definitions. There's a tutorial
onsite.
