Using System Restore reudces free disk space

When using system restore recently I found lots of the
programs I had removed by add/remove had reappeared.
After removing them again I carried out a maintenace
check and found that my disk space had gone from 90% free
to 87%. Can someone tell why these programs were stil on
the computer and what has happened to reduced the space?
Is there any way to regain this loss space? Thanks Pam
 
You apparently restored your computer to a day/date prior to when you deleted
the programs. Space reduced because you re-installed the programs.
 
Have you emptied your recycle bin?
