I was trying to figure out what is needed to be able to use slide
libraries in pp07. Help says I need an "Office Sharepoint Server 2007
server". When I visit the ms site to look for this, I can not find any
info on what it costs, what/how to set it up etc.

Has anybody done this? is it costly for a small user?

thanks

thanks Steve. I was hoping that it might be a workable solution. It
seems that it should be a popular feature for users who have large
quantities of graphs which are updated on a regular basis and need to be
available to multiple users.

What Steve said.

To use slide libraries, you need Sharepoint (I think it's called WSS --
Windows Sharepoint Services now, but I could be wrong), then you need MOSS
on top of that (Microsoft Office Sharepoint Services) to get the slide
libraries.

You can log onto the Sharepoint site and access and upload/download just
regular ol' files if you just have Sharepoint. With MOSS, you get "slide
libraries" which are specialized PPT file management things -- when you
upload a file to the slide library, it divvies it up into individual slides
and it flags the most up-to-date slides and stuff.

If you have a volume-license version of PPT (that would include Office Pro
PLUS, Office Enterprise or Office Ultimate. Office Ultimate is the only one
of those you can purchase retail, otherwise you need a volume license
account) you can access the slide library directly from within PPT, and when
you open a file that's tied to the slide libraries, it tells you you have
out-of-date slides.

But, as Steve said, it's really not intended for us small guys. This is a
huge corporate-type solution.

You know, for just sharing files, you might try Skydrive. It might be a
viable solution for a small business.
