Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me. I am would like
prepare a powerpoint 2000 presentation where down the left
hand side of the screen, brief topic words (i.e. menu) are
permanently shown onscreen. To the right of the topic
words, I would like to show my slides. I would like to be
able to click on each menu word on the left hand side and
slides (usually more than one slide) relating to that
topic appear. This would function the same a when looking
at a web page i.e. menu on one side and the text in the
middle changes as each menu is selected. Can this be done
and, if so, how do you do it? Any help would be
appreciated.

Short version:
View-->Master-->Slide Master
Draw a box down the left side
Add your text
Select each text item in turn, right click-->Hyperlink
Click within this document select slide (if the slides are in another
presentation, then select other file and then the slide number)
Click ok to close the hyperlink set up
After setting up each text link, click the box to select it
Copy the box
Change to the title slide (if you have one) and paste the box with the
hyperlinks
Close the view of the master slides

Your menu will now show on each slide. The links won't be active until you
run the show.
