Using search engine immediately closes IE

Here is my problem: The IE, or AOL browser if I am on
AOL, immediately shuts down (I have never seen my
computer move this fast) Whenever I visit Google or Yahoo
and hit enter after typing in my search request. SpyBot
did not help and Ad-Aware is not an option since the
program only runs once on my computer and then crashes
whenever I try to use it again. Any advice for the
browser problem and any advice for the Ad-Aware
situation? Thank you so much.

A likely search engine of search assistant hijack.

Make sure you have the latest reference file updates for both Spyware scanners.

Reboot into Safe Mode by pressing F5 or F8 during the boot process.
Run Ad-aware or SpyBot from Safe Mode - yes it's OK to do that.
