Using Remote Desktop to Connect to Home PC

I have XP at home and XP at work. I am able to connect
successfuly from home to work, but unable to do so from
work to home. Do I need a static IP on my home PC?
 
Yes you should be you could use non static IP if the IP
does not chnage during your travel from home to work...
you could use a dydns service to provide you an Ip
redirection, i think it is working or if it don't just
type "ping yourdnsredirection.ext" under dos shell and
you will have your home computer IP...

the problem could also result due to firewall: watch XP
integrated Firewall is you got Remote Desktop service
allowed or if you use peronnal firewall or router you
need to open TCP/UDP port (usualy 3389)
 
Is the Home PC XP Home or Pro? XP Home does not support incoming Remote
Desktop connections.

Does XP Home support incoming PPTP VPN connections? It allows us to
set the VPN Server up and we get to the part where it is "Verifying
username and password" but we get Error 721.

No--Can you successfully Remote Desktop from a third location to home?

If so, the issue may be a firewall preventing the outbound traffic at work.
You can test this by observing the response of a telnet on port 3389 from a
location where RD works, and comparing to what happens at work.
