I have my Red Hat Linux DNS1 and DNS2 machines running
fine, providing all the DNS requirements for the network,
If I want to move to Win 2k server & active directory can
I use my linux boxes for my DNS servers in the active
directory structure?

I want to limit my cost, if you can shed any insight to
this question please responde asap.

Thank you,

If they support SRV records you should be OK. Even better if they support
dynamic updates.

If your Linux DNS servers don't support SRV records you can use the DNS
server that comes with Win 2k (no extra cost).
If you go this route you can point all AD clients to your Win 2k DNS server
then have that server forward to your Linux server instead of your ISP as
the following link states:

I don't see a cost savings for that. Segregate the AD stuff to a separate
child domain, make the AD PDC the DNS server for that domain, and delegate
it from your Red Hat boxes. You can make the RH boxes secondaries of the
child domain for redundancy, but it's probably not necessary if you already
have a BDC for your Win2k domain.
