I have a Dell Laser 3100cn with both USB and Network interfaces. I
want multiple workstations to access the printer using the network
interface, but I need a single workstation to connect the printer
locally using the USB.

Does anyone know if this can be done? Thanks--Gina

Yes, easy. I have exactly the same setup. All you do is
configure both ports, check them both and make absolutely
sure "Enable printer pooling" is checked.

But doesn't checking both make them both the default printer - and how can both be _the_
default?

you're not setting the printer up to use BOTH ports from 1 computer...
1 computer will access it via USB, the rest will access via ethernet.
it can be the default printer on every machine without a problem.
