Using PPT 2003 on XP I get a powerpoint can't read file.ppt.

I cannot open a file that others can using the same PPT version. I get a
'powerpoint can't read' file.ppt error. I can open other ppt files on my
system just fine

I do now and it fixed the problem. I have auto-update turned on. Why did it
not flag this? Thanks for the help.

Windows update? That will check for and install critical updates for Windows,
but not for Office.
