Have saved a presentation created in Open Office; filename
ends .sxi. Can't open it with Power Point. Is there a
work-around that will allow me to open the file with
PowerPoint? (Open Office will open PowerPoint files)

In a lot of programs, there is a 'save as' function that will convert files
to a different format while being saved. Does Open Office offer this
feature?

I don't have Open Office on this machine to check, but I think you can
do (the equivalent of) File/Save As and choose to save as a PPT file.
