Is there any way to make a power point poster that is 4 x
8 feet? The dimensions don't seem to allow it (max width
seems to be 56 inches), but I didn't know if there was
some way to get around it.
Thanks,

Lauren,

This question pops up quite a lot in here (steve!).

The general consensus is to do a custom page size in powerpoint that is the
same "proportion" as your poster

in your case 4 x 8 anything (cm's inches anything).

Then when it's print time....either tell powerpoint to "scale to fit" or
choose the "properties" of your printer to "scale to fit".

Hello,

Even in the latest version of PowerPoint (2003), the maximum slide size is
56" by 56".

So, for example, if your printer is capable of larger paper sizes or you
want to split (tile) the

print job into smaller pages, to be stitched together after the fact, you
won't be able to do this

directly from PowerPoint.

If support for larger paper sizes, or the ability to tile print your poster
or banner (slide) is

important to you, don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is

important to you that your product suggestion be implemented by Microsoft
Microsoft receives

thousands of product suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any
given product

development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important

to our customers so take the extra time to state your case.

In the meantime, the workarounds include:

1) Specify a slide size (proportional to your poster or banner dimensions)
that is within the

maximum allowable slide size in PowerPoint and, when printing, use the
"Scale to fit paper" option.

OR

2) If you have Publisher, you can copy and paste your creation from
PowerPoint into a Publisher

poster or banner template. Publisher does support tiled printing as and
allows you to specify page

sizes up to 20x20 feet.

Lauren,

Just a comment but in my opinion you are using the wrong application. Try
an image creation/editing application that is design to do this.
