Have you recently applied SP3 for Office or updated your copy of Office?

Are you on a standalone system or on some kind of network at work?

I have had the same issue and reviewed KB922847 and 938810. The problem is
that neither registry entry listed in 938810 are in my registry .

As I read it, you need to create the entries to get PPT+SP3 to allow opening certain
file types, which it otherwise blocks by default.

I may've missed something, but have another look.
