Are they are disadvantages for placing people instead of resources
(conference rooms) in the "Resources" placeholder when creating an
appointment? For example, Updates, Propose new time, tentative are options
that are available when using "Required"; are these features removed once a
person is placed in "Resources"? We are using a public calendar with
auto-accept and auto-decline feature turned on to stream-line the process.
The majority of employees have Author as their permission level, whereas some
are Editor.
Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried inviting yourself as a resource to a test meeting?

Yes, I have tested the process; I would like to know if Microsoft knows of
issues that I may not see that could cause problems.

I don't know - I don't work for Microsoft.
