In order to manage wich file extension are allowed to who
in my firm, i use the ADMPACK fron the Office Ressource
Kit.

I use echange 2000 (1 server) and clients with Outlook XP.

I followed the installation guide, but each time I'm
trying to save the template with my defined settings,
when it ask me for credential to validate, i enter my
user name and password (as I'm defined as owner of the
Outlook 10 Security Settings folder I created at the rrot
of my firm's public folders), it says operation failed.

I just don't know what to do... It used to work because
I've already used it in the past, so now why does it
always say "operation failed".

Thanks for your support.
And forgive my spelling as I'm french.

Just on a hunch...try clearing your forms cache.

If you close outlook
Perform a FIND (click on desktop and press <F3>)
(If you are using XP or W2K operating system be
sure to look in hidden files)
Look for FRMCACHE.DAT file.
Delete it from the find window.
Restart Outlook.

When you restart Outlook it will rebuild a fresh new
FRMCACHE.DAT file.

I'm in the same situation but I can't resolve the problem by deleting this file. I've gone so far as to delete both folders (Outlook 10 ... and Outlook...), remove the forms and re-extract the admin pack files.

I have tried _many_ times to do this again (it was working previously) but always get an "operation failed" error. Eg:

Create "Outlook Security Settings" folder
Check permissions (default has read, my user has all)
Open Outlooksecurity.oft, choose correct folder
Publish as Outlook Security Form
(Close - do not save)
New form - choose Outlook Security Form
Save
Enter Credentials
"The Operation Failed"

What gives?

The user I am using is the owner or the folder (also Domain Admin). I have tried "username", DOMAIN\username and (e-mail address removed) but always get the same result.

When I first created these forms a year ago it all worked fine - could some update have broken something?

Wish I hadn't tried to modify them now - this is going to cause some problems!

Would be very grateful if someone could help

Thanks

John

I'm experiencing the problem again now, but with only one
new user I added to my Active Directory recently...

In fact I added two users. I modified one of the security
template to add one of them, no problems, it worked just
fine.

But I tried to add the other's name in an existing
template -> Operation failed when I enter credentials for
the second time. Then I tried to create a new form, with
only this user's name -> Operation failed. It only fail
with his name, whereas he's been created the same day as
the other who works just fine!

Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is that maybe you typed in the name and it was resolved from your Contacts folder instead of the GAL.
