Hi,

When I use Outlook inside a Remote Desktop session, the remote PC will
stop responding. Going to the site of the remote computer reveals that
the monitor is blank (in sleep mode), the HD light is on solid (though
it does not sound like the HD is being accessed) and the indicator
lights on the back are off (it is a Dell OptiPlex GX280).

I have all the latest updates for Windows and Office installed.

This does not happen immediately when starting Outlook, but some time
while using Outlook (such as starting a Reply or opening a message).

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

And this never happens unless you use the machine remotely?

That is correct. It only happens when I'm remote controlling the PC.

OK, I was wrong. It has now occurred while I was at the remote machine
(i.e., at the console, not connected via Remote Desktop) and while I was
remote controlling it but not using Outlook. In other words, I can't
blame either of those applications.

Other things I'm trying:

- Removed the latest NVidia drivers and installed an older version of
the video drivers (from the Dell drivers disk that came with the system,
I think)
- Turned off themes
- Ran Western Digital diagnostics, which showed no problems with the new
hard disk
- Set the video acceleration to the lowest setting

Hopefully one of those things will fix it.

It happened again this morning, while I was using Outlook via Remote
Desktop again this time.

I'm going to see what Dell has to say.

Which version of Outlook do you use?
