Just what does "default" mean? Why designate a default progam? Won't
mail process whatever program and profile/account is logged in?
Will messages still be downloaded to both when send/receive is
pressed?
"Default", in this instance, means the primary mail program.
You need to designate a default mail program so that when your
computer encounters an email message, it knows which program to open.
Let's say that you have Outlook designated as the default mail
program. If you then set up Outlook Express to access the same
account(s) AND to leave a copy of a message on the server AND collect
your mail with Outlook Express *first*, the message(s) will still be
there (on the server) when you attempt to access them with Outlook.
Using that method, you could get the same messages into both mail
programs' message store.
No, the messages will *not* be automatically downloaded to both when
Send/Receive is pressed. And, no, the mail store for both cannot be
shared.
