Hi - sure this is simple but can't figure it out. We have
a new XP computer with our contacts on outlook. With the
98 computer in word we could just insert adresses from the
contacts. When we try this with the new computer it an
arror message says that outlook should be the default mail
contact (which it is!) and then when you click ok on that
another error message comes up saying that you must log on
to microsoft exchange (?) to access your address book.
What is this and why is this - it used to be so simple and
so easy why must it mess with me?! (we have a local
network if that means anything?)

Any help would be great

This would have nothing to do with the operating system.
Provide your Outlook version instead.
Explain how you configured the Outlook Address Book and where your Outlook
data is stored: locally in a PST file or on Exchange Server?
