Im thinkin it ,, so Im Hoping its possible.. I Have a Sony Vaio
with XP on it. I'd like to connect my old Hewlett Pack which is
running windows 98 , to the New PC and use it as an external drive for
memory.. First The Hewlett Pack is acting up I cant find my reboot
disc any way toclear the hard driveand have it serve as an extension
to mt Vaio and still be able to use the CD DVD drive from the Old
Comp?? I hope I explained this properly?? I can see it so clear in my
minds eye.!!!!!

Using the old hard drive won't increase memory - it increases storage space.
Best Buy and/or Circuit City or similar sell cases into which the drive can
be placed and then used as an external drive via USB port.

If you have space in the case of the new system you can remove the old
drive, CD and DVD and install them in the new case/system.

If you're not sure of what you're doing when you open the case and move
hardware around then get someone to help you else you could screw things up
royally.

Thats alot of equitment to run when the gains would be min...Try removing
the hds from old, connect to vaio IDE cable, figure in the jumper pins, then
format
if you want,or/and open system properties, advanced,v.memory, change button,
L.click the hd(s) select,let system manage,click set 2X,then do same for
all,close
out,restart computer.In this expansion,youve gained storage,plus memory by
increasing the page file,kb555223 Gives more details...
