Some time ago I downloaded some pictures from my digital
camera to my pc and used themn as wallpaper. In a moment
of drunken madness I deleted the folder containing these
photos, but they still appear as wallpaper. I've tried
searching my c:\ drive to find where these pictures
arelurking, but with no luck.

Is there a way to retrieve these images and saving them to
a new folder.

If you deleted them, they are in your Recycle bin. Open the Recycle bin on
your desktop to see if they are there and just restore.

Dear Yves,
Thats the curious thing, there is nothing in the recycle
bin or anywhere on my hard drive. i can see the images,
scroll through them, but I can't retrieve the actual
files.

Then you did not delete them but something went wrong by accident. They are
on your hard drive so we need to try to find them.

Then do a search this way.
Click on Start, click on Search and then Pictures. Then click on Pictures
and Photos and click on Use advanced options and then click on More Advanced
Options button. A box will open.
Check the following: Search system, Search hidden files, Search subfolders
and in the textbox "All or part..." type exactly this:
*jpg
and click on Search.
This will display all the photo files on your hard drive in the display
window. Change the view to Thumbnails if this is not view and now look at
the pictures. Once you recognized a missing one, right click on it, click on
properties. This will give you the folder where the file is located. Also
look if, by chance this file is "Hidden", if so remove this.
There is also a chance that the folder containing the files is Hidden. If
so, you will have to change the default setting (do not display hidden
folders) to display hidden folders and then right click on the folder after
you find it, click on properties and remove hidden. After this, go back to
the default. To do this, you click on Tools on your top bar, and click on
Folder options, click on the View tab and click on Show Hidden files and
folders.

You are a gentleman and a scholar sir, I will certainly
try this when I get back from a party tonight.

They were hidden files! Managed to retreive them last
night. Many thanks Yves, the pictures had a sentimental
value and I thought I had lost them.
