Using Multiple Date Ranges to pull in Data

Hello,

I have close to 50 different date ranges which correspond to a specific period. For example 1/1/2011 - 1/15/2011 would be one range that could correspond to Period 1.

Column A - Start Date
Column B - End Date
Column C - Period "X"

I have a set of various transactions that occur throughout these various periods on a seperate sheet. Each transaction occurs on a date -- lets say (1/12/2011). I want to use a function that could potentially search through these various ranges on the other sheet in order to populate the Period #.

Can anybody help me out with this?
