Using MSDN Library, July 2001, as help files for Access2000 VBA

I did this once several years ago, but can't remember how I did it. I also
have had no luck finding the info on the web. I just installed the above MSDN
Library on my hard drive. I had hoped that selecting "Complete Installation"
would have automatically set the library up to act as help files for VBA in
ACC2000. But it still doesn't work. Could someone please direct me how to
make the MSDN help files attach to VBA?

The last version of "classic" Visual Studio (that would be the one with VB
6.0) used the MSDN Library as its Help. As far as I can recall, no version
of Microsoft Office did so. Perhaps it is Visual Studio that you recall.

Larry,

You're probably right. Come to think of it, I did also have VS6 installed on
those PCs. But, if memory serves, those help files were also integrated into
the VBE in Access and Excel VBA modules. Do you know if that's the case?
If I install VS6 to get the help files, do I have to uninstall/reinstall
MSDN Library or MSOffice, or is there some way to integrate VS6/AccessVBA
with an existing installation of MSDN Library? Is the integration something
that happens during installation of one of the packages, or is there some
method after installation to connect the two?

Thanks for you help,

Bill

For years, I had both the Access VBA help and the VB5
help, included in my A97 help. I always found it irritating.
I got it just by installing VB5, but perhaps it was
sensitive to installation order or installation location.

I never got MSDN except, in A2K, you can select MSDN
on the Web instead of Help.

I thought that the MSDN system was subtly different from
Office Help, so I didn't think it was actually possible to
get MSDN in Access, but would certainly be pleased to know
otherwise (given the well know worthlessness of A2K
help).

Anyway, most of this help stuff is really obscure - perhaps
microsoft.public.helpauthering might help?

A clear statement of how to add extra help files would be
interesting to a lot of people - for a start, Access runs
two independent sets of help files (accessible from the
database window and from the vba window), and it would be
good to merge those two systems.
