Using MS Outlook 97 with Windows 2000

I have Outlook 97 and Windows 2000. I am the only person using my PC.
It works fine on my normal account/user profile which is set up as an
administrator so I can install programs and adjust system files. But I would
like to set up a Restricted User account for everyday use. This would
prevent any malicious stuff (eg one of those Premium Rate diallers) from
automatically installing itself when I am online. But when I do this I get
the message that MS Outlook isn't registered properly and that I should run
setup again - but I can't do that because the account is a Restricted User
account.

If I change my current Administrator account (where Outlook is working fine)
to a Restricted User account, the same thing happens.

I have already asked this question in the Win2000 newsgroup but it seems to
have stumped them there.

Not sure what OL has to do with Prem.rate dialers.
This aspect should be taken care of with yr Firewall, AV app, and anti spam.
You do have this dont you?

The Premium Rate Diallers can install themselves on your PC if you are
unlucky enough to stumble across a website that has one on it. They quietly
divert your internet calls from your normal phone supplier to a Premium Rate
line for which you are then charged in your phone bill. AVs don't usually
detect them and some can bypass your firewall. Nor are they strictly
speaking Spam so I'm not sure if your normal spam trap would get them.It
also is a further shield against hacks etc since system files can't be
touched while you are in this mode.

Anyway, the point is that the way to absolutely prevent their installation
is to be in a Restricted Users account but that gives me the problem that I
stated with Outlook Express.

Thanks, that exactly covers the problem (I may need to come back if I can't
understand the instructions though!)
