Is there a way to use windows messenger for
communications over a lan without having to have a
passport, or at least without using the internet for
every message? I would like to enable users in our
office to message each other with messanger, but I don't
want them to be on the regular messanger system.

Thanks!

Greetings,

Unfortunately no, not without deploying a SIP-based communications server (like Office Live
Communications Server 2003) or an Exchange IM Server.

However, for a lan-based communication tool that doesn't require a centralized server, see
