Good day everyone,

My set up is a Asrock AliveNF7G-HD720P R5.0. Currently using both SATA
hard drive and DVD Burner. The issue I have is when I decided to try
out Windows 7 on an IDE hard drive. It seems to take forever to start
the installation process. I noticed when I was using this same drive
for internal starage the system seemed to take forever to boot into
XP. Any thoughts?

Thanks
Jason

The jumper is set to Master. I will try Cable Select.

Using Master is better than Cable select in my experience. Cable select was
brought about just to make things quicker to install for OEM computer
suppliers. You sure you have it on the correct connector on the cable?
Master IDE goes on the last connector. Are you using 80 wire cable?

Quicker how?

Quicker how?

Quicker in that all the hard drives could be set to the same jumper
settings by the drive manufacturer, saving a few seconds during assembly,
whether the user ordered 1 drive or 2. Time = money.

Ok, as long as it was the manufacturer who was setting the jumper.
