Using Group Policy to verify Symnatec Antivirus software is installed

I would like to set up a Group policy that verifies that a
specific version of Symantec Antivirus is installed and if
it is not the user would be denined access to the domain.

Seeing as how Symantec is not a MS product, no Symantec AV policies are
included. You have to create your own.

Would really just like it to check for a file

how about a start up script that looks for the file you want. if it finds
it does nothing, but if it doesn't force the user to log off/shutdown, I
think there is a tool in one of the admin packs for this. (there might be
a way to deny login via a script like this, but you'd have to know more
about scripting than I do).
