I simply Insert -- Movie From File (as opposed to importing a picture) and it runs fine. I'm on a Mac, if that makes any difference.

I would start by reading Rick Turoczy's Flash and Powerpoint tutorials,
which can be found about half way down the front page of:
http://www.flashgeek.com/

Then post back in this same thread if you need more help.

Hello,

PowerPoint does not currently support the level of integration with
Shockwave Flash that you are seeking. Others have already directed you to
the current workarounds.

However, ff you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it is
important to have improved support for Shockwave Flash in PowerPoint
(without requiring ActiveX controls, VBA or add-ins, so that the solution
would also work in the Viewer), don't forget to send your feedback to
Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
