Is there a way to insert a code to automatically insert the filename in a footer - like we can in Word and Excel
Thanks for the help.

Hi Judy,

Semi-automatically. Click on View, Header and Footer,
enter the filename under the box checked "footer", check
the don't show on title slide if desired, click on Apply
to All.

I was hoping there was a code available, so if I changed the filename, the footer would update automatically. Darn!

Please note, Judy, that the code Sonia recommends is also 'semi-automatic'.
It is a good code, but does not automatically update if you change the
file's name/path. It will add the name/path to the footer when it is
activated, with the file/path that is current at that time.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

As you have discovered, PowerPoint does not have the specific capability
that you are looking for so you would have to enter the file name and path
manually, write a macro or use a 3rd party add-in.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
have the option to include an automatically updatable filename and path
"field" to a presentations header or footer text or other
calculated/dynamic fields such as number of slides, author, modified date,
etc. (without having to resort to VBA or add-ins), don't forget to send
your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
