using file on dvd player

I have created a film from an imported home movie and saved in movie maker.
Is ther any way I can burn that file to a DVD and play on a player or can
they just be played on a PC with windows?

You need 3rd party software, which is known as a dvd authoring programme.
There are many, if you have a dvd writer you may have had one with it, such
as nero/rosio/windvd creator. It has to be able to make dvd videos though,
not just burn data dvds.
