Hi,
I'm using Excel 97 on Win2k with 2 monitors. No matter what I try, I cannot
increase the width of a workbook to more than the size of a monitor. Its
like the window has a maximum size.
Is there a solution?

thanks,
Mark.

Mark,

I use two monitors for audio work, and have to restore (non-maximize) the
window, then manually adjust it (drag the borders) to fill the two monitors,
and leave it that way (non-maximized). The same seems to be true with
Excel. Mine is a Radeon 7500. I've asked a colleague, who has a
two-monitor setup. If I get anything back, I'll reply again.

Mark,

My colleague also uses an ATI Radeon, and it behaves as mine does. He seems
to remember that an NVidia he once used worked differently, but he's not
sure. They're definitely different. A trip to the video adapter
manufacturer's site might be in order. The driver controls a lot of this
stuff, probably.

I cant see how its a display driver problem. I'm betting its an Excel
problem.
If we can stretch the width of other application windows (eg Windows
Explorer, MS Word97, Notepad, Outlook Express, etc etc etc) as wide as we
want over the two screens, then why not Excel?

Its not much of an issue anyway, but wouldve been nice.

thanks for your help,
Mark.

Mark,

My colleague tells me that with Excel 97, the application (Excel) window
will stretch across both monitors, but the document (workbook) window will
neither stretch beyond one monitor, nor maximize to the full application
window. It just stops. Sounds as if this may be the same as what you're
dealing with.

With Excel 2002 on my Radeon 7500, The Excel window will stretch across both
monitors (though it won't maximize to both), and the document window will do
the same. The document window always maximizes to the full application
window wherever it is. This may be an Excel version issue.

Hope this helps.
