Hi,

I was wondering, on a dual boot setup, would using PerfectDisk beta for
Vista on Windows Vista but defragmenting the HDD with XP on it do any harm?
Or should I just boot-up XP and defrag from there?

Just a thought of mine since the program lets u choose what HDD to defrag
lol.

cheers,

Nutty

It is never a good idea to use more than one 'brand' of defragger per
volume. Because they may use different algorithms and policies/options, one
may undo what another does and/or make a mess of things--then the other
tries to 'fix' it again to it's standards. Decide on one per volume and
stick to it.

Wouldn't that best be asked of the PerfectDisk folks? I would think,
though, that it would be compatible, except for the fact that it's Beta. If
it's a test system and you have an image to restore to then why not?

Perfect Disk (beta for vista) boot defrag totally screwed up my
system... so yes better have a full backup or be able at spending a
few hours trying to fix it.

Screwed up how? How did you fix it? Have you forwarded this info to Raxco?

In short, windows refused to boot. I fixed it by booting in safe mode
and disabling startup services (including but not limited to PD8).

And yes, I'm in touch with Raxco support.
