Using custom labels in Access Reports

I have the following scenario:
We replaced a legacy green screen system and need to use up several thousand
impact printer, continuous feed labels used for addresses. Simple enough at
first glance, but the problem arises in trying to use the existing
(converted) database and creating a custom report that will print on address
at a time to the specific label.

My labels are 4.25" wide and 2.875" tall. I created a report that will take
the address and format it properly on the report, but when viewed the screen
assumes an 81/2x11 page. I cannot find anyway to force it to the page size I
need.

I am sure that this is fairly standard practice, but I am stuck. Can you
help???

I cannot find anyway to force it to the page size I need.

Try File... Page Setup. That has an option to specify the paper size
and margins, and will be stored with your report.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have already defined the
label in there. I even set the columns to single, set
columns size parameters, but the report stioll comes out
as 8 1/2 x 11.

Under the page setup, the page tab is missing the "Custom"
page size option. If it was here, then maybe I could set
the label.

I'm stumped, and obviously so are all of you!!!

Huh! It was available in A97, but in AXP it's simply not one of the
options. There are a dozen or so envelope and paper size options, but
customization isn't amongst them! I wonder if the printer driver makes
a difference? Does your label printer have its own driver, or is it
old enough that it just uses the default?

Well, me anyway!

This got my curiosity up.

I created a new report in AXP with a HP 970cxi printer. In
the PageSetup of the report I did have a 'User Defined Paper
Size'. I selected that and then went to the File/Print
dialog box and selected the Properties for my printer. Under
the PaperSize settings on the Setup tab it was showing
UserDefinedPaperSize (8.50 x 11.00).

This did throw me off until I retoggled that setting in the
combo box. Upon the retoggle it threw me a popup for that
let me reset the custom size. I hit OK and it now displayed
the size I had just put in.

Looks like it may still be there, but in a much different
form.

I've got a HP LaserJet4 and the dropdown doesn't offer a User Defined
Paper Size. Sounds like it is indeed a printer driver issue!
