Using Categories instead of Distribution Lists in Outlook 2003

It seems clear that the MVP's recommend using Categoiries instead of
Distribution Lists in Outlook 2003 and I can see some very good reasons for
this.

I would like to know the procedure for forwarding an email to a Category
group. It appears that the category groups are intended only for new emails.
Please help!

Good question. (does that make you feel good?) This is a downside of
Categories over a DL.

I would make a new email to the Category of people from the Contacts Folder.
Then use Insert ITEM to drop the email in to it.

I hope this helps you at least a little bit!

Thanks Judy. However, I am using Word 2003 as my email editor instead of
using Outlook. In doing so, the Insert ITEM command is not available. How
do I get around this?

Thanks,
Greg

Judy,

I am a little confused. Was your last response supposed to be to me? I did
try what you suggested and as I replied, it doesn't work if you are using
Word 2003 as your email editor. I am using Outlook 2003 running on an
exchange server 2003. Did you set your configuration to use Word 2003 as
your email editor and then try the Insert ITEM command?

I don't have a clue what AFAIK stands for. Can you explain without acronyms
please?

Thanks,
Greg
