Using Animation on Chart Series in Slides

I saw a power point presentation at a conference which had a nice animation
effect. Essentially it was an XY scatter graph. The presenter showed the
graph in two states (before/after). He used the animation effect to
transition from the first state to the second state. However, what was
interesting was that when the slide transitioned, you could actually see the
data series move/drift in real-time to the second state. How do you do this?

What I just realized is that this may have been an hand-drawn XY graph and
the animation could have been set up to make the "Change" variable a "motion
path" for the desired dots. They could then all be set up to START as
"With Previous".
 
That's probably how I'd do it. I think animating this as a chart would be
difficult at best, and maybe impossible.

Actually, I'd set up most or all of it as a chart and either ungroup the
thing or hand-draw one data point and Ctrl+Drag to create the rest....

Well, if you *really* want to animate a chart this way, you could
probably create a VBA macro to run a loop incrementing the value of
the data point until you get to the proper value. You'd have to add a
small delay in the loop (and you might also need to refresh the
screen), but if you have the time and know how, I believe it could be
done.
