Using an external 'clicker' to go through slides

I'm new to Powerpoint and I've heard that there is hardware that I can use that will go through each slide in the presentation by using a "clicker" that is external to the computer. Ideally this would be a wireless setup. Obviously this is something that is out there, just can't find it anywhere!

Has anyone heard of something like this?

There are a number of remote control devices that will do this. Try a Google search using the terms "remote control PowerPoint". My personal favourite is the Remote Point Presenter from Interlink Electronics (http://www.interlinkelectronics.com/) but others may have a different view.

You can use a BlueTooth Phone. There is software called Clicker for the Sony Ericsson phone that works this way. I have played with it and it works.

I have an ipaq 3700 series pocket pc and both or a mac or PC running
powerpoint 2003. I am a student so looking for an inexpensive solution to
this situation. Would there be some bluetooth or infrared or 802.11b solution
coupled with open-source software I can use for this purpose?

Thank you for your time.

You may want to run down to the local electronics store (BestBuy, Fry's,
etc.)

When I was down there the other day, there was a choice of inexpensive
presentation tools, some of which included a laser pointer. The range of
these varies but most of the time, you should be within 100 feet of your
computer.
