I hope this will be an easy question for someone. When I
move to a new machine, I like to use my existing .pst
file. I always have trouble, and figure it out by trial
and error. Can someone please tell me how best to do
this? I'm on XP running up a brand new Outlook 2003.
This has created an empty "Personal Folders" .pst. I want
to blow this away and use my old .pst with all of its data
from my last machine. It surprises me that there's
nothing obvious in the Knowledge Base on this, because
surely lots of people would want to do this?

Connect to the "old" pst-file by File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...
Then set it as the default delivery location in Tools-> E-mail Accounts->
button Next-> at the bottom
Restart Outlook
Rightclick the root of the empty pst-file and choose disconnect
