Using an Access Database on a Sharepoint site in Frontpage 2003

Hi all, I really hope someon can help me on this because it has me stuck.

I have a MS Access 2003 database, that I need to display data from on our
sharepoint companyweb site (WSS). I have Frontpage 2003, and when I import
the database it creates the fpdb folder, adds a global.asa file, tell's me
it's complete but I cannot see the database in the Data Source catalog. It
just will not appear.
The database file is stored in a shared folder on the server. I've tried
creating a ODBC connection to it, but I don't know what to put in the server
name box in Frontpage - this is a desktop database not a server database so
how do i get it to appear?

Also, i need to retain the ability to use the Access interface (forms &
reports) as well as view and edit some of the data on the sharepoint site.
How is this achieved?

I really hope someone has the answer, because this has been baffling me all
day
thanks
Chris

The database needs to be stored in the fpdb folder on the web server (IIS), and it can not be in use
by Access at the same time it is being used on the web.

or you will have manually write a dsnless connection, but it still must be on the web server or in a
virtual directory accessible by the web server.

Thanks for your response, When I import the database file into Frontpage, I
am simply dragging it and dropping it into the frontpage web. Frontpage then
starts the import progress box, asks me if i want to move the file to the
fpdb folder, and it creates a global.asa file. It appears to import
successfully, but it does not appear in the database connections catalog when
i try to insert a data view web part.

About using the database from both a website frontend and an MS Access front
end, this is because we have office staff that do the majority of work, and a
field staff who need to do simple data entry. How would I go about creating
a dsnless connection? could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks again for any help,
Chris

Sorry, I see that you are working with WSS / ASP.net, in which case you will need to wait for
someone else to reply that works with WSS / ASP.net.
