Using Active Directory as a company list

How do I configure Outlook 2000 to read the user info from
a Windows 2000 server Active Directory? I would like to
use it as an address book of company email addresses -
we are NOT running MS Exchange server, the email is being
handled by an outsourced server running Linux and Sendmail.
