thanks for any tips,

Do you have permissions to edit the file at folder/file level? Does someone
have the spreadsheet open?

What version of Access? The ability to update Excel from Access was recently
removed from both Access 2002 and Access 2003, due to Microsoft losing a
lawsuit.

So that's the reason, I have Access 2003.
Is there any other way to move the data from access to existing sheet in
excel?

I use Office 2k3 and can update Excel from Access - is this a territorial
thing? If I lose the ability to do this then our weekly metrics reporting
will be up the creek.

You obviously haven't had all of the service packs installed.

We're on SP1. What possible "legal issues" can there be to stop two MS
products from communicating with each other?

You mention using automation in another posting, do you have any working
examples you could perhaps post the code for (automation is not something
I've used before)?

Many thanks,
Keith.

See whether my July, 2005 "Access Answers" column in Pinnacle Publication's
"Smart Access" helps.

You can download the column (and sample database) for free at

Doug,

This is an excellent example, many thanks indeed. The routine I currently
run populates an Excel spreadsheet for production of metrics graphs. Do you
have any examples of code that writes data to Excel or know of any sites
with examples? Thanks for your patience, this is all new to me.

Regards,
Keith.

I thought my article did that...

What more do you need? (I've done exactly what you're trying to do, getting
my data from SQL Server)

It does. Trying to run before I can walk but I've got the hang of it now.
Thanks again Doug.

Keith.
