I have what is no doubt a Micky Mouse question but
figuring out what to do is taking more time than I have.
I am attempting to save a copy of an Access database to
my CD drive as a way of keeping the info safe. Backup
will not allow me to save to the CD drive and a floppy is
too small. Tried zipping file but then could not unzip!
Am attempting to use Roxio Easy CD Creator but this
produces a Read Only copy which is useless for my
purposes. Can anyone help me out?

Not to worry Carrol, you are almost there. I had the same problem with
Roxio, but after you reload the database onto a hard drive, the "Read
Only" attribute can be removed. To do this, after you move the file
from CD to another location, using "My Computer", find the file, right
click and select "Properties". At the bottom of the window you can
un-select the "Read Only" attribute.

Anything saved on CD is always a READ ONLY copy, when u
have to make changes, need to take it back to the hard
drive, right click on properties of the database, and
uncheck the Read-only box. You would not be able to make
any changes to the CD unless it is a read-write(RW CD),
and there too, u would do the same thing.

A CD copy of any file is read-only. You'll need to either open the
database in read-only mode, or copy it onto a hard disk and use
Windows Explorer - right mouseclick the file, view its Properties, and
uncheck the ReadOnly checkbox.
