Hi,

I have an interest in using a TV as the primary monitor for my XP Pro
box. Can someone help me with this? Specifically, I need a
recommendation on a video card and comments on any potential caveats
like interference from the PC while I am watching TV or whatever...

If it matters, my TV is a fairly decent color Panasonic, with the
standard 3-prong A/V connectors. (I don't recall if my TV has an
S-video connector...)

Finally, I would ask that responses be emailed to me as this newsgroup
is a bit hefty and I seldom remember to read Usenet. (I prefer to be
emailed at (e-mail address removed), but (e-mail address removed) will do too.)

TIA,

Steve

Hello

Your better off using your monitor because TV screen can not
give you the high resolution that you may want and it's better to
just keep using your monitor

Thanks for the quick response, but I need to do this because I am
considering converting my old PC into a TiVo-like system (a personal
video recorder), and I want to view my programs on my TV. I don't
intend to do much traditional PC-based activity on this PC, and I don't
need the output to be any better than what I'm getting now from my VCR...

Well if you're okay with a lower resolution, then any card with an S-video
out or RCA out will do the trick. You might get better performance with
different cards, but I'm not in a position to recommend one.

If the computer already has a monitor you can just use the TV as a
secondary display when you're watching shows that you recorded.
That's exactly what I do...the TV is only really good for videos and games.
