I just switched from Cable to Dsl with a linksys router
model BEFSR41. I'm unable to get on the Internet with the
router. However, I can get on the Internet if I bypass
the router and run the cable to the DSL modem. This
router worked perfectly fine with my cable connection.
Any ideas what could be wrong?

Cable Internet usually doesn't require a logon procedure,
but DSL does. You need to setup your router to tell your
modem to dial the DSL connection. It will require you to
type in the username and password that you received from
your DSL provider. When you configure the WAN on the
router, choose PPPoE, see user manual page 50. Since I
don't know what provider you are using, I can't guarantee
this solution but it worked for me on BellSouth DSL.
P.S.: If you're in Europe on a ADSL connection, you'll
need to use PPTP.... Hope it helps ! Your user manual is
availble on http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?

Some ISPs check the MAC address against their database to protect
against unregistered users getting free access. Call your ISP
to see if they do so.

Alternatively, direct your router to use an alias MAC address,
namely the one on your PC's NIC -- I think most routers support
that; my BEFW11S4 does.
